Who We Are
Arbitration And Alternative Dispute Resolution [ADR] In Africa And Associates [ AAAAAA or A6] otherwise known as and called “Arbitration & ADR In Africa” is a legally registered private sector institution providing leading-edge Arbitration & ADR services, consultancy, capacity-building, linkage and inter-institutional cooperation, globally with special focus and interest in Africa.
One of the cardinal objective of the firm is the development, sustenance and use of Arbitration & ADR In Africa. We also focus our attention and energies not only on providing quality services but on the propagation of Arbitration/ADR culture, practice and education in Africa.
AAAAAA has over the years been in the fore front in the capacity-building of African Arbitrators & ADR Practitioners including prospective practitioners. We have over the years trained and continue to train hundreds of Arbitrators, Mediators and other ADR Practitioners. We are also Consultants to a number of Governments and other institutions in the establishment of Arbitration Centres, ADR Centres, Mediation Centres [Citizens Mediation Centres], Multi-Door Courthouses [Law Court Annexed], Dispute & Conflict Resolution Institutions and Panels, etc.
We have also organised and continue to organise international workshops, seminars, symposia, colloquia and conferences in various countries in collaboration with other international Arbitration & ADR institutions including the United Nations.
In 2004, we organized the 1st International Arbitration And ADR In Africa Workshop. This first ever All African Arbitration & ADR In African Workshop, which was held in July, 2004, at Hilton Hotel, Abuja – Nigeria, was a huge success with over 500 participants.
In June, 2006, we held a successful 2nd International Arbitration & ADR In Africa Workshop, at Hilton Hotel, Sandton, Johannesburg – South Africa, with the United Nations’ UNCTAD [ITC/WTO] from Geneva, Switzerland and the Arbitration Foundation of South Africa [AFSA] South Africa, among others.
In June, 2007 we had another exceeding great [3rd] Workshop at the Hilton & Panari Hotels, Nairobi – Kenya, with a number of International Arbitration & ADR Institutions and the University of Nigeria.
The 4th International Arbitration & ADR In Africa Workshop was held at the Conrad Hilton Hotel, Cairo – Egypt in July, 2008, in collaboration with University of London [SOAS], U.K; The Cairo Regional Centre For International Commercial Arbitration; etc. As with previous workshops, it was a huge success with 22 International Speakers and over 330 participants.
The 5th International Arbitration And ADR In Africa Workshop which was organised in association with the Dubai International Arbitration Centre; University of London [SOAS]; International Dispute Resolution Institute & Emirates Int’l Law Centre, Dubai, was held in June, 2009, at the West Grand [ Waterfront] Cape Town, South Africa. It was another great success story with over 125 participants.
We again in November, 2009 held the 6th workshop in Dubai – UAE, with the Dubai International Arbitration Centre; Emirate Int’l Law Centre; Centre de Conciliation et d’Arbitrage de Tunis; at the Hilton Hotel Jumeriah Beach with over 85 participants. It was no mean feat holding two exceedingly successful international workshops in one year.
In July, 2010, we held another very successful Int’l Workshop with the Office Of The Chief Justice of Ghana, Ghana Arbitration Centre, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, etc, at the Holiday Inn Accra – Ghana.
In June, 2011, we held a hugely successful workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa, and in July, 2012, we held another remarkably outstanding workshop at the Sheraton Luxury Collection Hotel Addis Ababa – Ethiopia in collaboration with IDRI and Emirates Int’l Law Centre, Dubai, among others.
In June, 2014, we held our 10th Anniversary Workshop at Hilton Hotel , Durban, South Africa, with the largest ADR Institution in South Africa – Tokiso Dispute Settlement, the International Dispute Resolution Institute and other mega and global ADR Institutions with the theme ” Empowering Africa Business And Investments Through Arbitration And ADR”. As with our previous workshops, the conference was a huge success.
Building on our commitment to the growth, development and sustenance of Arbitration and ADR we continually seek to partner with mega and International Arbitration & ADR industry players in order to enhance the quality of our practice, capacity – building and to bring the latest techniques and international best practices to the services we offer.
